Lamborghini Diablo: 11 years of production.Lamborghini began developing the Diablo in 1985 as a replacement for the Countach model, introducing it for sale on January 21, 1991. Lamborghini Diablo could reach 60 miles per hour in slightly over 4 seconds, with a top speed of 202 miles per hour. This vehicle was fairly sparse in terms of equipment mostly to minimize the vehicle's already high curb weight. After three years of making small adjustments to the standard Diablo, in 1993 Lamborghini engineers decided to create second even more specialized version of Lamborghini Diablo in order to add new customers to the brand. Starting with the basic Diablo platform, Lamborghini engineers added the all-wheel-drive system and suitable resized front wheels and tires, update dashboard design and a few more important original features. The 1999 year model of Lamborghini Diablo was mainly a styling update. The cars now featured the exposed headlamps, new wheels and a newly redesigned dashboard. On the mechanical side, larger brakes, the long-overdue addition of ABS brakes and a new variable valve timing system were the only updates. Although normal production of Lamborghini Diablo ended in 2000, the owner company Audi decided to produce two special edition versions of the car: the "Millennium Roadster" and the successful Diablo VT 6.0. Special features were mainly cosmetic and included the buyer's choice of just three original paint colors: special shade of gold metallic, metallic silver and a maroon-brown metallic. This vehicle marked the final death of Lamborghini Diablo after 11 years of production. |
